Oxford to boost playoff hopes
Oxford United will head into the weekend sitting just a point and place outside the playoff positions following a run of four wins across their last five games.
Karl Robinson’s side could well be timing their top-six push perfectly and they will fancy their chances of beating a Shrewsbury team that have lost three home games on the spin.
Indeed, Shrewsbury have struggled on home soil all season, with only relegation-threatened Rochdale having won fewer matches on their own patch than the Shrews’ total of five.
Only one of those victories has come across Shrewsbury’s last eight home games, while their overall form is also poor, as they will head into Saturday’s match having suffered four defeats in five.
Oxford will certainly be hoping to capitalise on the host’s poor form and the U’s have an impressive recent record in the fixture, as they are unbeaten in the last five meetings between the two sides, winning four of those matches.
Given Oxford’s greater need for the points, we are predicting that record to be extended on Saturday, with our overall prediction being for a 2-1 away win.
