Sint-Truidense vs Anderlecht Predictions
Sint-Truiden head into this fixture in 5th position in the league after picking up 24 points from their opening 15 league games this season. They have won 6, drawn 6 and lost 3 and this represents a very impressive start to the campaign. They head into this match in good form, having won back to back league games after a 2-1 win at home to Zulte-Waragem and a 4-1 win away at Eupen last time out.
Anderlecht sit a modest 4th in the table but if results go their way this weekend they could move into 2nd position. They have 30 points from their opening 15 games after picking up 9 wins, 3 draws and 3 losses so far this season. They too head into this game on the back of consecutive wins after beating Waasland-Beveren 2-1 away from home they followed that up with a solid 2-0 home win against Gent last time out.
At home Sint-Truiden are one of only 3 sides to still be unbeaten after 7 games. They have won 4 and drawn 3 on home soil this season. On the scoring front they have performed below average scoring just 11 goals in their 7 games averaging 1.57 goals per game however their defence has been the main performer. They have conceded just 5 goals in 7 games at home this season, conceding at a rate of just 0.71 per game.
Anderlecht have been very hit and miss on the road this season, winning 4 and losing 3 of their 7 away games so far this campaign. They generally beat the weaker teams but then find themselves unstuck when travelling to the better sides, seeing them lose to both Genk and Club Brugge on their travels this season. They do hit the back of the net often however, scoring 12 goals at a rate of 1.71 per game however they do struggle to keep them out. Anderlecht have conceded 9 away goals this season at a rate of 1.29 per game.
The bookmakers have priced Anderlecht as the favourites here and we feel that’s more due to name than anything else. Sint-Truiden have won 4 of their last 5 home league games including a 2-0 win against Antwerp, inflicting their only away deafeat this season. They also struck late to secure a 2-2 home draw against Club Brugge showing they have more quality than they are being given credit for. For that reason we are backing Sint-Truiden double chance here. On the correct score front we can see this being a close fought match with both sides getting on the score sheet. We do feel however that Sint-Truiden will just have enough to keep their unbeaten home run going and shall be backing them to win 2-1 here.
