      Brann vs Molde Predictions

After an unexpected defeat against Lillestrom a few weeks back, league leaders Brann have steadied themselves. After regaining the winning thread last time out, Lars Arne Nilsen’s men find themselves with a seven-point lead at the top of the table. Given both their own pleasing form at home and the poor form of the visitors on the road, this is a big opportunity for Brann to extend their lead by claiming all three points.

As touched on above, Molde arrive at this juncture having failed to deliver the goods away from home of late. The visitors did win last time out, but they’re now without a win on the road since the second week of the season. Sunday’s visitors have lost each of their last three travelling matches.

As they sit in a more than respectable sixth position, Molde are no mugs, though they have struggled to get things going on the road this season, which has of course prevented them from climbing to loftier heights. The visitors will go to Brann Stadion having failed to win any of their last five on the road, three of which they’ve lost.

In contrast, Brann are a very astute side on their own patch, and it is indeed their impressive home form which has been the catalyst for success this season. The hosts are strong offensively, but it is their ability to prevent teams from scoring that has really allowed them to thrive. Brann are without defeat on their own patch this season having won four and drawn two in front of a home crowd.

With ten goals to their name on home soil, the hosts aren’t the flashiest side in terms of goals, several of the other teams have scored far more, but what several of the other teams haven’t done is concede just one goal. If you’re so effective at the back, then fewer goals at the other end will do.

Unlike their hosts, Molde are finding it tough to keep teams at bay on the road, and it is this defensive weakness that could cost them on this occasion. The hosts will be happy to keep things tight before looking to profit from chances on the break, which are likely to arrive against a side that has conceded six goals in their last three away matches.

How well the visitors do in this fixture is likely to depend on how well they can get at the sturdiest defence in the league. Judging by the fact that they’ve scored just four goals on the road this season, failing to score in 50% of their away matches, breaking Brann down may be a step too far.

Overall, as the hosts continue to give away next to nothing on their own patch, while Molde continue to struggle at both ends of the pitch away from home, there’s only one way to go. Backing ‘Brann to Win & Under 3.5 Goals’, a bet that has landed in four of Brann’s six home matches this season, catches the eye at the prices.
