Slovan Bratislava vs Shamrock Rovers Predictions
BETTING TIP – DRAW
CORRECT SCORE PREDICTION – 1-1
- Slovan Bratislava have not won any of their last four European home games (2 draws, 2 defeats).
- Shamrock Rovers have won only one European away game since 2010 ( 7 Draws, 8 losses).
Hoops have unity to frustrate Slovan
There is no doubting Slovan Bratislava have the greater European pedigree going into Wednesday’s Champions League qualifying tie against Shamrock Rovers.
The Slovakian champions reached the group stage of the Europa League two seasons back and even beat Besiktas on their own patch.
While still in preseason, they overcame Dundalk 1-0 at home on their path through the qualifying rounds that year- and that result could be a good barometer for this week’s contest against Irish Premier Division opposition.
Slovan scored an 86th minute winner that night and still needed a brilliant 90th minute save from goalkeeper Dominik Grief to stay on top on a night when the visitors acquitted themselves well.
This should be another close game and the value in the betting lies with the Hoops coming back from Bratislava without tasting defeat.
Stephen Bradley’s side have been a little inconsistent of late after seeing their 33-match domestic unbeaten run ended in May.
They have won only three of their seven matches since then but the addition of ex-Brighton and Salford midfielder Richie Towell this month has given them a lift.
His experience and drive in the middle of the park should help greatly in holding off a Slovan side who may still be a bit ring rusty in their first competitive match of the campaign.
We are siding with a draw in this first leg and backing a 1-1 scoreline that has been the outcome in Slovan’s last two Champions League qualifying ties.
