The last and only meeting between Slovan Liberec and Qarabag took place in September, and the hosting Qarabag twice required an equaliser to salvage a point from the game. However, a lot has changed since then.

Slovan Liberec have lost their following three Europa League group matches and are now in the midst of a terrible run of form domestically as well. The hosts have only won one of their last eight in all competitions and have lost three of their last four.

This leaves them rock bottom of the Europa League with next to no chance of making up the six point gap between them and Qarabag. More worrying is that they have slipped down to 11th in the Czech Liga having picked up just 14 points from their 14 games so far.

Qarabag, on the other hand, have come to life over the past month or so. Their 1-0 win at home to Kapaz on Saturday made it seven wins on the bounce in all competitions for them, including victories home and away against PAOK. This leaves them 2nd in the Europa League group and a win on Thursday could potentially wrap up qualification with a game to spare.

They are by no means the best attacking side around, but their defensive organisation over the past month has been outstanding. Qarabag haven’t conceded a goal in over 630 minutes of football in a clean sheet record extending back seven matches.

Qarabag do have a couple of dangerous players ensuring that they take all three points though, with Reynaldo bagging four in the league. It’s Spanish attacker Dani Quintana who has proved the most lethal though with three league goals and three in the Europa League. Backing him to score anytime at 3/1 looks a very good value bet.

On the balance of things our predictions suggest that the visitors have the upper hand. Slovan Liberec have nothing left to play for in the competition and Qarabag are both in form and have the motivation needed to get a result. Odds of 5/4 for a Qarabag win look good value, as do odds of 9/1 for a 2-0 correct score predictions.
