Slovenia vs Gibraltar Predictions
- Slovenia have scored just five goals in their last seven internationals.
- The hosts managed to score only four goals in recent encounters with San Marino and Moldova (both 4-0).
- Gibraltar have conceded less than five goals in eight of their last nine starts.
Goal shy Slovenians unlikely to embarrass minnows
It would be a huge surprise if Slovenia failed to justify odds of around 1/40 against Gibraltar on Friday, although the travelling minnows may well be capable of keeping the score down in Koper.
Gibraltar were smashed 0-7 by Netherlands in their last outing in March, but they faced a determined Dutch side that evening who were gunning for an emphatic victory after some poor results.
Prior to that fixture, Julio Cesar Ribas’ side managed to concede less than five goals in their eight previous starts, restricting the likes of Norway and Montenegro to just three and four goals respectively.
This Slovenian side aren’t exactly the most prolific around with just five goals netted in their last seven matches, and they only managed to put four goals past comparable opposition in the shape of San Marino and Moldova last year (both 4-0).
On that basis, the judgement call is to bet small on under 4.5 goals here, in the expectation that the hosts are likely to seal a solid, but not emphatic victory.
Motivation may also be wavering within Matjaz Kek’s squad considering their non-participation in Euro 2020 this summer, so we think the hosts will pick up the win via an underwhelming 3-0 score-line.
