Slovenia vs Ukraine Betting Tips

Attacking duo Andriy Yarmolenko and Yevhen Seleznyov scored crucial goals on Saturday as they pushed Ukraine a step closer to Euro 2016 qualification.

This 2-0 victory over Slovenia in the first leg of their playoff tie was well deserved. They held on to the ball well and limited the visitors to just two shots on goal compared to their own ten attempts.

This brought an end to Slovenia’s three match unbeaten streak which guaranteed that they finished above 4^th place Estonia in Group E of the Euro 2016 qualifiers.

They picked up 16 points in their ten qualifying games, with Ukraine collecting three more to bring their total to 19.

Ukraine’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of Spain in the final group match stopped them from achieving automatic qualification. A win would have seen them finish above 2^nd placed Slovakia.

But the visitors are in very good form at the moment. They have only lost two of their last 13 matches including friendlies, with three of them ending all square and the other eight seeing Ukraine win.

This will certainly be a tough test for Slovenia. They have only scored more than once on home turf in three of their last 11 outings, and two of these games were against San Marino and Cyprus.

Ukraine, on the other hand, have only conceded three times in their last seven games, and these were games that they were actively trying to win. Now that they have a two goal cushion to hang on to they will be be very difficult to score past.

I expect Ukraine will set themselves up to avoid defeat, quite understandably I might add. This makes a high scoring game a huge doubt, and despite their fairly short odds I think 8/15 for Under 2.5 Goals are actually pretty good value.
