Sochaux vs St Etienne Predictions
- Six of Sochaux’s last seven games have contained at least three goals
- There have been in excess of two goals in 80% of Saint-Etienne’s ten matches
- Sochaux have won their last three at home
Can Sochaux keep going?
Sochaux’s quest for a return to Ligue 1 after a nine year absence hit a snag last weekend when they lost 2-1 to Valenciennes, just their second defeat of the campaign.
That was the sixth time in their last seven fixtures that there have been three or more goals across the 90 minutes, including each of the last three at home.
Indeed, they are in good touch at Stade Auguste Bonal, where they have won three in a row, beating Niort, Laval and Nimes 3-0, 4-1 and 3-1 respectively.
Saint-Etienne finding form
Saint-Etienne had an awful start to the campaign, failing to win any of their opening six games, but they have now lost just once in six, so are clearly beginning to pick up.
There are clear defensive problems for Laurent Batlles to address, given they have conceded 19 goals already – the most in Ligue 2.
That translates to eight of their ten matches containing three or more goals, including each of their five outings on the road, where they are yet to pick up a win.
I predict that there will be three or more goals in this game, with 2-1 to Sochaux my correct score prediction.
