Spain vs Georgia Predictions
There have been doubts cast about Spain’s squad in recent months as they go on the hunt for their 3rd consecutive European Championship trophy, but they helped to allay those fears on Wednesday with a comprehensive win over South Korea.
Many people had asked questions over their ability to score goals, but the 6-1 win on Wednesday showed that they can perform just fine. Nolito and Alvaro Morata each bagged a brace to give Vicente Del Bosque a dilemna up front, whilst the usual false nine Cesc Fabregas scored along with an exquisite free kick from David Silva.
The fact that two strikers got four goals between them may push Del Bosque into playing with an out and out striker, whereas usually he prefers to push Cesc Fabregas into a deep striking position. It will be interesting to see how they set up on Tuesday as they are likely to be playing their first choice formation.
This win against South Korea was their 9th win in their last 11 matches, and the other two have ended as draws as well. This saw them finish top of their qualifying group with 27 points from a possible 30.
Georgia won’t be feeling too great coming into this game. They saw Spain demolish South Korea on Wednesday and then went out themselves to get turned over by Romania. The usually low scoring Romanians won 5-1 on Friday to make it four defeats and two draws for Georgia since they last tasted victory.
During these six games they have conceded 16 goals, and away from home they have conceded 20 goals in their last seven matches as they went on to lose six and draw one of them.
Spain will be flying high after that landslide victory and Georgia have lost by more than two goals in three of their last six away games. The last defeat to Romania was an atrocious performance and I can see another Spain hammering on the way. Odds of 3/4 for a Spain -2 Handicap Win look good value to me considering the quality of their opposition.
