Spain can send a statement with a big win

After cruising through their qualifying group with ease (W7, D1), Spain enter this Women’s Euros as outright favourites with many bookmakers and with this group being a ‘group of death’ with Spain, Germany and 2017 runners-up Denmark, this could prove to be too big of a mountain to climb for Finland.

Despite their favouritism, Spain have never won a major international honour in the woman’s game, so a positive start is a must here. Even with a late injury blow with Alexia Putellas set to miss out, that may open the door for Barcelona star Claudia Pina to make her mark on the squad.

Although a ball is yet to be kicked, many fear for the chances of Finland in this competition with this opening game looking like a baptism of fire after missing out on the last Euros altogether.

A word of warning to the bold punter, Finland failed to win each of their last seven games as betting outsiders, so overturning that humongous price may be a bridge too far.

Value is hard to find in this game given the apparent gulf in class between the sides, yet we think going for a Spain win to nil at around 4/9 is much more palatable than the straight win price. As for the correct score, a commanding 4-0 Spanish victory will begin their Euro campaign with a bang.
