Sparta Rotterdam vs RKC Predictions
- Sparta overcame a 2-0 deficit to draw with 5th-placed Vitesse last time out.
- Sparta boss Henk Fraser won seven of his nine meetings with RKC.
- RKC are yet to win an away league game this season.
An opportunity for struggling Sparta
While Sparta Rotterdam are without a win in six games, the signs of life are there for the struggling outfit after they scored two goals on or beyond the 70′ mark last time out to claim a point against European participants Vitesse.
The hosts have won just once here this term, but that did come against another side within the immediate vicinity of the bottom-two, Sittard. As such, they can hope to pounce on what is a very poor travelling RKC Waalwijk outfit.
Encouragingly, Sparta boss Henk Fraser won seven of his last eight personal clashes with RKC, with five coming without reply from the visitors. To do so again will bring these sides level on points heading into 2022.
A tough trip for RKC
Though RKC have conceded only one more away goal than league leaders PSV ahead of this round, they are one of just three Eredivisie teams yet to win on the road. As such, it could be a tight margin should they fall yet again.
It has been over ten years since RKC last won in this part of Rotterdam (March 2011) but they did at least get on the scoresheet in three of the five following away H2H defeats.
All in all, I predict a very tight clash here in which Sparta will just come out on top of, with a slender 2-1 margin. The relegation battle will only heat up heading into 2022!
