Trnava vs Legia Warsaw Predictions
Going into last week’s first-leg, Legia were overwhelming favourites, so much so that they could be backed at no bigger than 2/5 pre-match, though they were unable to make much headway, as they lost 2-0 on home soil. The Polish side will now be looking to bounce back when they visit Štadión Antona Malatinského on Tuesday evening.
Having secured themselves the lead and two precious away goals in doing so, the visitors may just fancy their chances of progressing against the odds. In truth, much of the work has been done, it’s now just a case of the Slovakian side remaining disciplined defensively and giving nothing away.
Their performance in the previous round wasn’t great, so much so that they probably did just about deserve to go out, though it’s fair to say that Radoslav Látal’s side improved when they went to Poland last week. On that occasion, Trnava defended much better, allowed their opponents less clear-cut opportunities, while they also did much better with the ball. To be honest, they ought to have scored more than the two that they did, such was the level of their attacking performance. Interestingly, the Slovaks managed to amass 14 shots at goal in the first-leg, while they only conceded two more than that. In comparison with their away performance in the previous round, where they conceded no less than 28 shots, last week’s showing was very much an improvement, at both ends of the pitch.
As far as Legia are concerned, well, it’s probably fair to say that the Polish outfit will have been gutted with the result last week, though they will probably be more disappointed with their performance. Fortunately, they do have the quality to at least have a go at getting back into the game, though the aggregate score-line means that, sooner or later, they’ll become exposed to the counter – a tactic which Trnava used to good effect both last week and when holding an aggregate lead in the last round.
Legia may have outshot Trnava in the first-leg, though they certainly didn’t create more clear-cut chances. In fact, Dean Klafurić’s men created very little, which of course cannot be said about Tuesday’s hosts, who continued to fashion more than reasonable opportunities throughout the game.
Given the respective performances of this pair in the first-leg, it’s difficult to see why Legia remain favourites in the Win/Draw/Win market. They’re nowhere near as short as last week, though it’s hard to justify a price of 11/10, given that they were outplayed in all areas on their own patch.
With the aggregate score-line in their favour, Trnava are fancied to keep a toothless Legia side at bay before once again exploiting their openness at the back. At the prices, both ‘Trnava Draw No Bet’ and ‘Trnava to Score Over 1.5 Goals’ stand out.
