Spezia to edge further clear of trouble

Spezia and Benevento were promoted together from Serie B last season and they are currently locked together on 25 points in the top-flight standings, five clear of the relegation zone.

However, it is Spezia that have been in the better form, particularly on home soil, as they have only lost one of their last four matches at the Stadio Alberto Picco, a run that includes victories over AC Milan and Sampdoria.

By contrast, Benevento are without a win in nine Serie A matches, with their only success of 2021 to date coming at Cagliari back in January.

Filippo Inzaghi’s side have also taken just one point and scored two goals from their last four away matches, losing comprehensively against Napoli, Inter Milan and bottom club Crotone.

Indeed, only Parma and Crotone have taken fewer points over their last 10 matches than Benevento, while Gli Stregoni were also beaten 3-0 by Spezia when the sides met earlier in the season.

We are predicting a similar result on Saturday, with Spezia claiming a comfortable win, although our overall score prediction is for 2-0, as the hosts are yet to score more than twice in a Serie A home game this season.
