Napoli -1

Reason for tip

Nine of Napoli’s 17 league wins this season have seen them beat a -1 handicap, while they have the best attacking and defensive records in Serie A. Spezia, meanwhile, have lost their last three games by more than a one-goal margin, conceding nine times in total.

Napoli 2-0

Reason for tip

Spezia have lost back-to-back games to nil, while their attacking record is worse than all but the bottom two in Serie A this season. Napoli have conceded a league-low 15 goals this campaign, and have won their last two away matches to nil.

Spezia vs Napoli Predictions

  • Spezia have lost each of their last three games by more than a one-goal margin, shipping nine goals to Atalanta, Roma and Bologna.
  • Napoli have hit multiple goals in eight of their last nine league games, beating a -1 handicap five times in that run.
  • With 48 goals scored and just 15 conceded, Napoli have the best attacking and defensive records in Serie A this season.

Napoli running away with it

Never in Luciano Spalletti’s wildest dreams would he have predicted a 13-point lead for Napoli at the Serie A summit with 20 games of the season gone. However, a combination of Milan’s poor form, Inter playing catch-up after a below-par start and Juventus’ 15-point deduction has left Napoli in the clear, making their first Scudetto triumph since the Diego Maradona era appear something of a procession. The next stop on the title road is Spezia, and the Partenopei should have few problems.

Some wondered how Napoli would respond when Inter dealt them their first league defeat of the season last month. The answer has been emphatic. Spalletti’s men have won four on the spin since then, hitting 11 goals in wins over Sampdoria, Juventus, Salernitana and Roma. Led by the irrepressible Victor Osimhen – who hit a sublime goal against Roma last week, Napoli have scored multiple goals in eight of their last nine matches, beating a -1 handicap five times in that sequence.

Spezia managed to limit Napoli to one goal in a narrow defeat in October’s return fixture, but their chances of doing likewise here appear slim following a three-match losing run. Spezia have lost their last two games to nil, and have conceded nine goals across losses to Atalanta, Roma and Bologna. Only three Serie A teams have conceded more than their 32 goals against this term, and only the bottom two Sampdoria and Cremonese have scored fewer than their 17 at the other end.

Partenopei to bust handicap

Nine of Napoli’s 17 league wins so far this campaign have seen them beat a -1 handicap, and with the Partenopei in excellent form and Spezia struggling at both ends, we expect them to make it double figures on Sunday.

Napoli have also won their last two away games to nil, making a solid 2-0 success for the champions-elect a strong correct score prediction.
