Spezia vs Napoli Predictions

  • Spezia have lost four of their last five Serie A games.
  • The hosts have conceded a minimum of two goals in each of their last five games (a total of 14), each of which have contained over 2.5 goals.
  • Napoli are one of just three Serie A teams to score 70 or more league goals this season, along with Lazio and Inter.

End-of-season clash promises goals

Although he has kept Spezia in Serie A in relatively comfortable fashion, Thiago Motta’s future at the club appears to be in doubt after a run of four defeats in five games. Their final game of the season, and potentially his last at the helm, pits Spezia against Napoli in a clash which should promise goals, even if neither side has anything left to play for.

Spezia claimed a stunning 1-0 win at Napoli in December’s return fixture, but a repeat of that shutout triumph looks unlikely after they conceded 14 goals in their last five games, each of which has contained over 2.5 goals and seen Motta’s men concede two or more goals. Only Salernitana, Empoli, and Venezia have shipped more than the 68 Serie A goals conceded by Spezia this term, 27 of which have come in 18 home games.

Napoli, meanwhile, saw their title hopes ended by a disappointing run in April, but have since bounced back to claim three successive wins, scoring 10 goals in those fixtures (six of them against Sassuolo). Luciano Spalletti’s men have seen over 2.5 goals scored in seven of their last nine games, and have won four of their last five on the road.

Partenopei can end season in style

With Spezia shipping goals left, right, and centre, backing Napoli to win and over 2.5 goals to be scored looks an excellent play, with a second successive 3-0 win for Spalletti’s men a decent correct score prediction.

Meanwhile, Lorenzo Insigne will make his final appearance for Napoli on Sunday, having scored a penalty against Genoa to go second in the club’s all-time goalscoring charts. No player in the top five European leagues has scored as many spot-kicks as Insigne this term, and he is an excellent bet to end his incredible spell with Napoli with a goal.
