Sporting Gijon vs Deportivo La Coruna Predictions
Sporting come in to this game on the back of two outstanding wins that have really boosted their survival hopes. They had suffered 5 league defeats on the spin and were being written off by many people when they hosted Real Sociedad a fortnight ago.
However a thumping 5-1 win courtesy of a hat-trick by Paraguayan teenager Arnaldo Sanabria lifted optimism in Asturias and they backed that up with a shock 1-0 win at the Mestalla last time out. They were on the back foot for most of that game but held on for the win against their wasteful opponents.
Deportivo have somewhat predictably hit a sticky patch after a fine start to the campaign. They were expected to be involved in the relegation scrap so 9th place represents real progress but they haven’t won any of their 8 matches since the winter hiatus.
Their last three have all been score draws though so things haven’t totally collapsed for them. Both teams have scored in 4 of their last 5 matches overall and up against a Sporting side that have both scored and conceded 5 goals in individual matches in recent weeks we should some openings at both ends in what is likely to be an even game.
Both teams have netted in all of the last 4 matches at the Estadio Municipal El Molinón and backing that to be the case again looks a solid bet at 10/11.
Deportivo are the division’s draw specialists and over 50% of their matches so far this season have finished all square. They’ve been involved in seven 1-1 draws already in 22 Primera Division matches this term and backing this to be another one at 5/1 looks a sensible idea.
