Picking up exactly where they left off, defending Primeira Liga champions Sporting have opened their league season with nine straight wins and they are looking like an unstoppable force in Portugal. 

Ruben Amorim’s expected exit could upset the apple cart slightly, but not to a point which would cause them to struggle against third-bottom Estrela. 

Sporting are unbeaten in 30 league games and given they have won 28 times in that sensational run, while the visitors have managed just one Primeira Liga win all season, it is likely we will see one-way traffic in Lisbon on Friday. 

Tricolours to have little luck in Lisbon

Estrela have lost five of their league games this term and it is difficult to envisage them causing the champions too many problems. 

The Tricolours did manage to score while losing both meetings with Sporting last term but it could be argued that the Lisbon outfit, who have also taken seven points from a possible nine in the Champions League, are even better this time around. 

Friday’s hosts have scored 30 goals and conceded just two in nine league games this term and having won their past seven Primeira Liga matches to nil, it could be worth backing them to repeat that feat against a struggling Estrela.
