Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

St Johnstone’s defensive record of late is miserable, failing to keep a clean sheet in eight at home, while six of their last nine outings at all venues have seen both teams score. Their opponents Ross County are equally as poor at the back, conceding in 14 straight games on the road, while both teams have netted in seven of their last nine Scottish Premier League fixtures.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

St Johnstone have netted exactly one in five of their last eight at home, including three 1-1 draws. Ross County have conceded exactly once in five of their last ten fixtures, notably a 1-1 stalemate with St Mirren, while they have not netted more than once in any of their last nine on the road.

St Johnstone vs Ross County Predictions

  • Six of St Johnstone’s last nine games have seen both teams score
  • Both teams have netted in seven of Ross County’s last nine fixtures
  • The visitors have not kept a clean sheet in their last 14 away games

Can St Johnstone stop the rot?

A 2-1 defeat to already-relegated Livingstone at the weekend leaves St Johstone’s 15-year stay in the Scottish Premiership at risk of expiring.

The Perth-based club have now lost four matches in a row, and as such sit in the relegation play-off place, two points from safety.

It has been a dreadful campaign for Craig Levein’s side, particularly in defence, where they have kept just one clean sheet in their last 13 attempts.

As such, six of their most recent nine matches have seen both teams score, as have five of their eight fixtures at McDiarmid Park since the turn of the year.

Ross County cannot afford to lose

The twist in the tail is that the team sitting directly above the Saints in the SPL table are their opponents for this match, Ross County.

As such, the Staggies know they cannot slip up, especially after a 5-1 drubbing at the hands of Motherwell at the weekend.

Seven of their last nine outings have seen both teams score, and their defensive record of late is abysmal, failing to register a single clean sheet across 14 winless away fixtures.

I predict that both teams will score in this game too, with 1-1 my correct score prediction.
