St Johnstone to Win @ 23/20

We use stars to rate our confidence in our tips, with 3 being most confident to 1 being the least.
St Johnstone 2-1 @ 8/1

Reason For St Johnstone vs St Mirren Predictions

  • St Johnstone has conceded at least one goal in seven of their eight home games this season.
  • St Mirren has kept a clean sheet in just one of their nine games on the road.
  • The Saints have won two of their last four games at McDiarmid Park.

St Johnstone slowly rising

St Johnstone recorded an important 1-0 win over relegation opponents Hearts last week as the Saints picked up their first win since the end of October. The club has only drawn and lost twice since that previous victory.

At McDiarmid Park, St Johnstone has found it hard in recent weeks to score more than a single goal, netting just once in their last trio of games which also coincides with their average of a goal a game. They’ve also conceded a fair amount too, letting in 15 goals in eight home games and only keeping a clean sheet once.

Buddies search for another away win

St Mirren comes into this game in high spirits after they completed a comeback and drew 3-3 at home to Livingston, pushing them a point further from the relegation zone. This latest result made it two games in a row without defeat- the Buddies beat Hamilton away the week before.

The aforementioned game was the first time Jim Goodwin’s side picked up points away from home and they’re currently the worst club on the road. Last week was also the first time St Mirren kept a clean sheet in their nine away fixtures in which they’ve conceded 1.89 times on average, but they have been able to score at least once in five of those ties, although their tally for is a low 0.67 goals.

Battle of the Saints

This is an important game for both teams as it’s a direct relegation battle, and the team with the upper will be able to breathe a little better. However, we do believe the hosts will be the ones to take all three points here, as their current form at home is good, with the Perth outfit winning twice and drawing once in their last four games at McDiarmid Park, whereas St Mirren, despite winning their latest away fixture, has still lost eight of their nine matches.

As for the final score, we’re going to back a narrow 2-1 win for the Saints, as they’ve conceded at least one goal in seven of their eight home games and the visitors have bagged at least once in their last three away days.
