St Patrick’s can heap more misery on UCD

On Monday European chasers St Patrick’s Athletic missed the chance to go second in the Ireland Premier Division, dropping points against Dundalk, but a home clash with struggling UCD presents a great opportunity for three points.

St Patrick’s were on course to leapfrog Derry into the league’s runner-up spot when they took a 33rd-minute lead against Dundalk through Conor Carty at Oriel Park.

And in the 55th minute, the situation looked even more promising when Rayhaan Tulloch was sent off for two quickfire yellow cards.

But Athletic failed to capitalise and instead conceded in the 84th minute, meaning they had to share the spoils.

That was a frustrating blow but St Patrick’s had won four of their five matches beforehand and should have few problems against UCD, who are propping up the standings with two wins from 21 games.

A St Patrick’s win looks likely but they did not look the most clinical last time out and may have to settle for a win in a match featuring under 3.5 goals.

As for a correct score prediction, 2-1 to Athletic could offer some value with UCD, despite their league position, having netted in five of their last six games.
