St Pauli vs Magdeburg Predictions
- St Pauli are unbeaten in six of their last seven home encounters.
- Magdeburg lost four of the last five H2H meetings.
- Magdeburg conceded exactly twice in each of their league games this season.
Possible double delight for St Pauli
After a middle of the road sort of start to the 2.Bundesliga season (W1, D1, L1) St Pauli have the opportunity to move on up with three points against newly-promoted Magdeburg, a side that have that have looked decent enough going forward but a return of two conceded goals per-game raises questions around their solidity.
Missing out on a top-three place by just three points last term, St Pauli know that this is exactly the sort of game (at home vs promoted opponents) that are must wins if they are going to be serious contenders this time around.
St Pauli are known for their solidity at home, which was exemplified by their league-high 37-point return here last season. As such, we predict that St Pauli should realistically have enough in reserve to win this one.
Stick with the hosts
A home win is certainly not a formality as manager Timo Schulz just can’t seem to get a grip on games against his opposite number Christian Titz, with just one victory across their last four touchline meetings (W1, D1, L2).
However, with the current state of play and the respective goals of these clubs, we predict that St Pauli will win this clash. As for the correct score, we’re sticking with an entertaining yet hard-fought 2-1 home win, the same as in both of Magdeburg’s league defeats thus far!
