Tip Reasoning

  • Stockport are without a win in five National League home games, losing their last two at Edgeley Park.
  • Despite their relegation from League Two, Grimsby lost just four of their final 15 matches last term, winning three of their last six.
  • The Mariners started life in the National League with a 1-0 home victory over Weymouth.

Hatters opposable at Edgeley Park

Stockport County are without a win in their last five home outings in the National League and The Hatters look worth opposing when they entertain Grimsby Town at Edgeley Park this Tuesday.

County are the bookies’ favourites for promotion this season and they got up and running with a 0-1 success at Southend United last time out, though that followed an extremely disappointing 1-3 reverse here against Dagenham & Redbridge on the opening weekend.

Simon Rusk’s men haven’t tasted victory on their own turf since beating Wealdstone 4-0 at the start of May, so the odds-on about a County win this week is questionable to say the least.

And they take on a Grimsby side who are also likely to be involved in the promotion shake-up. The Mariners were relegated from League Two in 2020/21, however, they weren’t exactly in bad form towards the end of the campaign, winning three of their last six and losing just four of their last 15 matches in the Football League.

Town began life in the National League with a battling 1-0 victory at home to Weymouth and Paul Hurst’s charges may well be capable of backing up that success with another positive result in Lancashire this Tuesday.

The visitors make plenty of appeal in the double chance market which means we also have the draw on side, and that’s where we’re leaning in the correct score market with 1-1 marginally fancied.
