      Stoke City vs Liverpool Predictions

Stoke ended their 2014/15 Premier League season with an incredible 6-1 victory over Liverpool at the Britannia, a result which gave Stoke fans a huge boost of optimism to carry into the new season.

In addition to this, they have also had a very active transfer window which has seen some promising signings for the north west club.

Joselu has come in to provide more firepower for the front line, whilst both Bojan and Peter Odemwingie have recovered from cruciate ligament injuries.

Perhaps the most exciting signing is ex-Barcelona winger Ibrahim Afellay, who moved on a free after his contract at the Nou Camp expired. Glen Johnson also arrives on a free, whilst Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel comes in on loan to provide an extra element in the centre of midfield.

Philipp Wollscheid is another new addition at the back after arriving for £2.7 million from Bayer Leverkusen.

Unfortunately, Steven N’Zonzi and Asmir Begovic have both left the club for new pastures, so there is some downside to their transfer dealings.

These new arrivals will take a while to gel in to the squad, as is evident by the fact that they have lost their last 3 friendly matches ahead of the beginning of the new season.

Liverpool have also had a very active summer with regards to transfers. The most high profile alterations in personnel have been the £49 million sale of Raheem Sterling and the exit of club legend Steven Gerrard.

Iago Aspas, Sebastian Coates, Rickie Lambert, and Andre Wisdom have also been sold, with a number of big money replacements being brought in.

Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino have set Liverpool back a combined £60 million, whilst Nathaniel Clyne and Joe Gomez have put another £15 million hole in the Liverpool account.

Liverpool have largely played lower quality opposition in their friendly matches so far, but their 5 wins in 6 matches is still impressively efficient.

I think the new frontline for both sides will contribute towards a high scoring game on Sunday, and odds of 43/40 for Over 2.5 Goals look like very good value.
