Strasbourg to Win

Reason for tip

Nantes have lost two of their three away league games this term and five of their last seven in 2022-23 while Strasbourg have won two and lost only one of their four home Ligue 1 games this season.

Strasbourg 2-1

Reason for tip

Strasbourg scored exactly two goals in their first three home games of the campaign while Nantes have conceded two or more goals in seven of their last ten league aways spanning this season and last. Despite being without their two first-choice forwards, Les Canaris could find the back of the net for a sixth league game in a row in a 2-1 loss.

Nantes look hard to trust after derby defeat

In a clash of two inconsistent Ligue 1 sides, Strasbourg are the safer bet to take three points when they host Nantes.

Les Canaris lost their heads in last weekend’s 3-1 derby defeat to Rennes, conceding two penalties and finishing with ten men after striker Mostafa Mohammed saw two yellow cards in a minute.

His suspension leaves them without either of their first-choice front two as Ignatius Ganago will not return for a few weeks.

The manner of the defeat at Roazhon Park was disappointing because Nantes had won their previous two and things could get worse now with a trip to face Strasbourg.

Strasbourg play it safe under Vieira

Le Racing have been a tough watch under Patrick Vieira, much as Crystal Palace were late in his tenure at Selhurst Park. They set up in a 4-3-3, but drop into a 4-5-1 when under pressure.

The tactic has produced mixed results, although their 1-0 home defeat to Lens last weekend was the first time they have not been able to score two goals on their own patch.

Ultimately, this comes down to which team you can trust and that is certainly not Nantes at the moment.
