Strasbourg vs St Etienne Predictions

St-Etienne’s struggles set to continue in Ligue 1

Only nine matches have been played in Ligue 1 this term but already St-Etienne look as though they could be at risk of relegation.

The visitors have failed to win any of their nine league assignments this term and sit bottom of the pile in the French top flight.

Before the international break, they had held rivals Lyon to a 1-1 draw but only courtesy of a 95th-minute penalty and after their opponents had been reduced to ten men following a red card for goalkeeper Anthony Lopes.

St-Etienne have only scored eight times in nine league fixtures this term and they could struggle to contain mid-table Strasbourg.

The home side have beaten Mets and Lens since September 17 and held Montpellier to a draw last time out and they even put up a fight in the 2-1 defeat to Lille in their last home contest, having seen a player sent off in that contest.

Strasbourg only have a 3-2-4 record in Ligue 1 this season but they have nonetheless performed much better than basement boys St-Etienne and can record another win.

In terms of a correct score prediction, neither side have been prolific this campaign and a low-scoring game looks likely so we will go for a 1-0 victory for hosts Strasbourg.
