Over 3.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

At least four goals have been scored in five of Stuttgart’s seven Bundesliga home games this season and also in three of Dortmund’s last five Bundesliga away games. Meanwhile, an average of four goals per game have been scored in the last six head-to-head clashes of the clubs.

Draw 2-2

Reason for tip

With goals likely and little to separate the two teams on this season’s performances, a 2-2 draw could be the result to back here. Stuttgart have scored exactly two goals in four of their last five home games while Dortmund are averaging just over two goals per away Bundesliga game this term.

Big chance for Bundesliga duo to claim a cup

Stuttgart face a major test in their quest for silverware when they host Borussia Dortmund in the DFB Pokal’s round of 16 on Tuesday night.

The shock second-round exits of holders RB Leipzig and Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have left the door open for the likes of Stuttgart and Dortmund to take charge of the competition.

Die Roten strengthened their grip on third place with a 2-0 win over Werder Bremen at the weekend while Dortmund dropped to fifth after a 1-1 draw at leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

Neither result or performance indicates that this clash will not serve up plenty of fluid football, goalmouth action and drama.

Fullkrug has been firing on all cylinders

Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeness paired in-form strike duo Serhou Guirassy and Deniz Undav together and they both scored while Niclas Fullkrug was a handful for the Leverkusen defence, setting up Dortmund’s goal.

The depth of attacking talent available to the teams suggests goals will be on the cards with over 3.5 a likely outcome given the respective home and away scoring records of the teams.

Fullkrug, who scored in Dortmund’s 2-1 defeat at MHP Arena in October, is good value to grab his seventh of the campaign and a 2-2 draw could be outcome after 90 minutes as there may be little to separate these teams.
