Stuttgart haven’t had the best of times so far this season, and they don’t really look like improving on their equally disappointing season last year.

This leaves them in 17^th position in the Bundesliga having collected ten points from their opening 14 games, and they are three points adrift of the safety of 15^th position; coincidentally occupied by Werder Bremen.

Werder Bremen have also lost four of their last five Bundesliga matches, also shipping a whole load of goals during their defeats. They have conceded 15 goals in their last five outings, including a 6-0 drubbing by Wolfsburg.

It certainly doesn’t look like they are capable of improving on their 10^th place finish last season, although they did manage to put together a small run of good form back in October.

Recent history between these sides has been fairly even, with Werder Bremen winning twice, Stuttgart winning once, and three draws being played out in their last six meetings.

Werder Bremen have actually managed to win three of their last six away matches in the Bundesliga, and they are coming up against a Stuttgart side who have lost five of their seven home games this season.
