Surging Sunderland can clip Bluebirds wings

Cardiff have hit some form with four wins in their last five games across all competitions but they face a stern test at Sunderland on Sunday.

The Black Cats are looking for a fourth straight win after recovering from a slow start, and they have been in fine scoring form as well with 11 goals across those three victories.

Home advantage key

Sunderland thrashed Southampton 5-0 in their last home game and backed that up with a pair of 3-1 wins at QPR and Blackburn.

Cardiff have been in good form, but their success has come at home and on the road they have just one point to show from three games. The Bluebirds have had some tricky games during that run, but Sunderland are starting to look like serious promotion contenders and they can make the most of home advantage.

Cardiff have scored in all four of their away assignments so far and Sunderland have conceded in six of their eight games. The Black Cats haven’t conceded more than once in any game since August, however, so a 3-1 win for the home side is the correct score prediction.

Jack Clarke scored twice in Sunderland’s 3-1 win at Blackburn last time out and he has scored in each of their last three games, so he looks a strong contender for an anytime goal here.
