Sunderland vs Southampton Betting Tips

Sunderland fans will have been hoping that their squad were lifted after their 3-0 win over arch rivals Newcastle a couple of weeks ago.

It wasn’t to be though, and they followed this crucial win with a disastrous 6-2 thrashing at the hands of Everton last weekend.

This makes it six losses in Sunderland’s last eight matches in all competitions, and they have conceded 18 goals during this period.

This has left them wallowing in the Premier League drop zone, with their six points from 11 games leaving them in 19^th position and two points from safety. A win on Saturday could lift them out of the drop zone should Bournemouth and Newcastle draw.

Southampton had a fairly disappointing start to the season as they struggled to adapt to life without Morgan Schneiderlin, Nathaniel Clyne, and Toby Alderweireld as well as having to deal with a lot of injury concerns.

But they have picked themselves up and found their feet. They are unbeaten in their last seven games in all competitions, with five of those ending in victories.

This excellent run of results has seen them rise to 7^th in the Premier League table, and a win on Saturday could see them rise to 5^th in the ladder.

Despite their poor record Sunderland have scored in nine of their 13 competitive games this season, whilst Southampton have found the net in all of their last eight matches.

This makes me look towards a Both Teams to Score bet, and the recent history between these sides strengthens that argument. Four of the last six meetings between Sunderland and Southampton have seen both sides score.
