Sutton United vs Arsenal Predictions

Sutton United’s shocking 1-0 win over Leeds United in the last round of the FA Cup leaves them as the lowest ranked team left in the FA Cup, with them sitting in a lowly 17th place in the Conference National.

This didn’t stop them from overcoming Forest Green Rovers, Dartford, Cheltenham Town, Wimbledon, and Leeds United in the competition though, scoring an impressive 14 goals and conceding six in their six matches in total.

They aren’t coming into this match in the best of form though. They were beaten 2-1 at Guiseley in midweek to make it three defeats on the trot for them, and in that period they have scored just one goal and conceded ten at the other end.

Arsenal will be placing the FA Cup high on their list of priorities after their own midweek disaster. They were demolished 5-1 at Bayern Munich to effectively put them out of the Champions League, and with ten points between them in 4th and Premier League leaders Chelsea they won’t fancy their chances of lifting the league title either.

This leaves the FA Cup as their only port of call for the chance of a trophy this season, so we may see a fairly strong squad selection from Arsene Wenger here as he looks to avoid a catastrophic upset.

Despite their recent poor form The Gunners have still won seven of their last 11 games in all competitions and three of their last five away from home, including their 5-0 demolition of Southampton in the last round of the FA Cup.

Danny Welbeck was our original selection for this game to score anytime but he’s missing Monday’s clash after starting for the U23’s against Leicester. He said on Twitter “Glad to get 70 minutes today to build up my match fitness. Plastic pitch at Sutton probably isn’t the best idea at the moment”.

Theo Walcott looks next best to score anytime at 5/6, he scored a hat trick in the last round against Southampton,  has five goals in his last eight games in all competitions and his pace could cause Sutton all kinds of problems. Considering the extremely short odds of Arsenal for this one, I think Theo Walcott to score anytime is a solid prediction, along with a 3-0 correct score predictions at 6/1.
