Reason For Swansea City vs QPR Predictions

  • Only three Championship teams have conceded more travelling goals than QPR during the current campaign.
  • QPR are the eighth-worst team in terms of shots taken away from home in the Championship.
  • Swansea are the eighth-best team in terms of shots taken at home in the division.

Home comforts suit Swans

Swansea failed to break their winless run at the weekend, losing narrowly to Derby. It’s now three games since the Welsh side earned three points, though there’s no need to panic ahead of this game, as the Swans remain strong at home.

The defeat to Derby was Swansea’s first home loss since late November. In addition to that unbeaten run, Tuesday’s hosts have a relatively pleasing record against bottom-half teams at home. Steve Cooper’s men have won five, drawn three and lost just two against teams currently residing below 12th place.

Lack of goals blighting R’s

QPR began the year by recording two pleasing wins, scoring no less than six against Cardiff, an effort they followed up by hammering home five against Tuesday’s opponents. However, things have since gone awry. They ended the month with back-to-back defeats, while they’ve started February in the same vein, losing each of their first two matches.

Whereas they were not that long ago scoring for fun, the R’s are now struggling in the final third. They’ve failed to score in each of their last two and have scored more than once in none of their last six. Despite their result against Swansea in the reverse of this fixture, QPR’s recent efforts are worrying ahead of a trip to Liberty Stadium. Here, the hosts have conceded more than once in just one of their last six.

Hosts look a good bet

Swansea haven’t been imperious at home this tern, though their recent efforts suggest they can do well against a defensively inept QPR side. In the betting, ‘Swansea to Win & Over 1.5 Goals’ stands out as a viable option.

The Swans have scored two or more in three of their last five at Liberty Stadium, while they’ve only conceded more than once in one of their last six at home, which bodes well ahead of a game against a QPR side for whom the goals have dried up of late. The visitors are without a goal in two and haven’t scored more than once since New Year’s Day.

They’ve also scored just two goals in their last 360 minutes of travelling Championship football. Add in that QPR have shipped two or more in four of their last five on the road and backing the hosts to notch more than once en route to victory starts to hold plenty of appeal. Correct score punters can back a 2-1 win for Swansea.
