Tip Reasoning

  • Swansea City have won four of their last five home Championship games.
  • Reading have lost six of their nine Championship away games in 2021-22.
  • Reading have failed to score in four of their last six Championship fixtures.

Swansea should add to Royals’ misery

Swansea City are on the rise again in the Championship and can enhance their playoff push by adding another three points to their tally against Reading on Saturday.

The Swans went to Barnsley and got the job done in midweek while a couple of their rivals for playoff slots failed to do the business so Russell Martin’s side will feel they are back in the mix after two disappointing results.

The 1-1 home draw with Blackpool may have been more sickening than the 4-0 loss at Bournemouth because Swansea were a few minutes away from securing the win. Keshi Anderson’s equaliser was only the fifth goal they have conceded at Swansea.com Stadium this term and they will be desperate to keep another clean sheet on Saturday.

Ryan Bennett’s return on Wednesday boosted Martin’s defence as they held Barnsley to nil and a ridiculously low xG of 0.17.

Reading regularly failing to register on road

Reading will arrive in South Wales with one of the lowest goal returns in the Championship when on the road, so we aren’t expecting them to get on the scoresheet here. Veljko Paunovic’s men have not kept a clean sheet in seven games, although they have only conceded 11 goals in that time, which confirms the notion that they are not falling apart at the back.

Swansea’s excellent home form and Reading’s ropey away record make this an easy call for a home win and, although the win to nil is tempting, we will keep it simple and take a 2-0 Swans’ victory in correct score betting. Since discovering their shooting boots in September, Martin’s men average exactly two goals per game at home and the Royals have fired blanks in four of their last six road trips.
