Swansea vs Stoke Predictions
Swansea sank further into relegation trouble last weekend as they slumped to a 1-0 loss away to Watford, following on from their 1-0 defeat at West Ham to make it six games without a win. Five of these six games have ended in defeat, and it feels an awful long time ago that Paul Clement was being hailed as the saviour of Swansea following four wins in six games.
In fairness four of these six winless games have all been away from home, and one of their home games was against the rampant Tottenham at the start of April. The Swans overall home form actually looks fairly respectable with five wins, one draw, and four defeats coming in the last ten matches in the Premier League. They remain in the drop zone though, two points from safety and facing a rather tough final five fixtures.
The south Wales outfit have scored in seven of these ten games too, but have only kept three clean sheets in the process and two of those came against the lowest two scoring teams in the Premier League.
Stoke broke out of their five match winless streak last week as they beat the dreadful Hull 3-1 at home, following on from four straight defeats to Chelsea, Leicester, Burnley, and Liverpool. Decent form earlier in the season does leave The Potters well clear of danger though, so they don’t have much to worry about when looking below them.
Like their hosts Stoke’s form at home is actually pretty good, but away from home they are really struggling. They have lost seven of their last nine trips away and only managed to beat bottom of the table Sunderland in this timeframe. They have also conceded 20 goals in these nine games.
Stoke have failed to score in their last five away games, but those came against defensively sound sides who are good in front of their own fans. Swansea may be decent in front of the Liberty Stadium faithful but they are by no means solid at the back. The hosts have conceded 24 goals in their last 11 home games, keeping just three clean sheets in the process. This makes odds of 4/5 for Both Teams to Score look a very good bet, so I’m going for that along with a 2-1 win for Swansea at 9/1 for my correct score predictions.
Fernando Llorente is the man to look out for in the goalscoring department. The Spanish giant leads the way for Swansea with 11 league goals, and eight of those have come in his 13 home appearances. Backing him to find the net at 6/4 looks the best choice for our anytime goalscorer predictions.
