Low-scoring affair expected in Geneva

Switzerland showed some moments of brilliance in the final third at Euro 2020 – beating Turkey 3-1 and pushing France in a 3-3 draw before winning on penalties – but their attacking threat has since waned and their clash with Northern Ireland could be a low-scoring affair.

In Haris Seferovic and Breel Embolo, the Swiss have talented forwards in their ranks but they often struggle to translate that into goals and their last two competitive fixtures have both ended 0-0.

One of those goalless stalemates was against Northern Ireland, whose pursuit of a World Cup 2022 qualifying berth has been built around a tight defence.

They have shipped only three times in their first four qualifiers but also appear to be lacking in attack, having only edged Estonia 1-0 in a friendly fixture last month.

Given both sides are solid at the back but inconsistent going forwards, a low-scoring game looks the obvious bet and punters are advised to back under 2.5 goals. 

Both still harbour hopes of a top-two spot and so instead of going for either to win when placing a correct score bet, 1-1 could be the way to go.
