Sydney FC vs Western Sydney Wanderers Predictions

Sydney FC narrowly missed out on picking up silverware last season. They ended up trailing Hyundai A-League Premiers Melbourne Victory by three points, and then came face to face with them in the A-League Championship Final.

They lost this final 3-0, despite having the best record in the league away from home. If just two results went differently throughout the season Sydney FC could have held both trophies, so they will be determined to better themselves this season.

They didn’t start in promising fashion though when they once again failed to capitalise on their home advantage, drawing 1-1 with Melbourne City.

Their 1-0 win away to Newcastle Jets the following week saw them pick up a typical away victory.

Sydney FC have made a large number of additions to their squad during the transfer window. Filip Holosko’s integration seemed to happen pretty quickly as he netted their goal in the opening game of the season. Captain and Marquee player Alex Brosque netted their winner against Newcastle Jets.

Western Sydney Wanderers have been active as well, with their ten new additions meaning there has been a large influx of footballers to the most famous city in Australia.

Mitch Nichols was one of these additions, and he scored a consolation goal for his new club as they lost 3-1 to Brisbane Roar in their A-League curtain raiser.

They followed this loss up with a 1-1 draw at Adelaide United, which can be seen as a good result considering they finished last season with just 18 points from 27 games.

The visitors have failed to beat Sydney FC in any of their last four meetings, picking up one point from a possible 12.

These meetings tend to result in a lot of goals. There have been 18 goals notched in the last four games, including a thrilling 4-3 encounter at the end of February.

This makes odds of 9/10 for Over 2.5 Goals look attractive, but I think the better proposition is to go for another Sydney FC win at excellent value odds of 21/20.
