Tenerife to return to the top flight?

Just one point separated these two sides in the Segunda season, and they were inseparable during the first leg of this play-off final, drawing 0-0 at Estadi Montilivi.

Naturally, both sides come into the game with some form behind them, but Tenerife have been particularly strong of late, winning two of their last three and keeping a couple of clean sheets in the process.

They have not been overly strong at home, where they won ten times in 22 matches, three of which came in their last nine at Estadio Heliodoro Rodríguez López.

But Luis Miguel Ramis’ side have also only lost one of their last six meetings with Girona, who they have not been defeated by at home in five meetings since February 2015.

Girona up against it

Girona beat Eibar to reach the play-off final, but in total have picked up just two victories in their last seven outings, a run that includes three defeats.

Indeed, Míchel’s side have failed to even score in four of those fixtures, while they finished the regular campaign with fewer goals on the road than any other side in the top six.

That led to a disappointing return away from home, with Girona’s total of seven victories also the fewest total of those in the promotion places.

I predict that Tenerife will win this game, but I think it will be quite tight and nervy, with 1-0 to the hosts my correct score prediction.
