Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Both teams have scored in Bari’s last five Serie B away games, including when the Cockerels came up against two of the top three in the final standings. Both teams scored in the last two league meetings between these clubs as well, which suggests they have each discovered how to create enough danger against one another to get on the scoresheet again.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Bari have scored exactly one goal in their last five away league games and, although it would not be good enough to keep them up, can get a 1-1 draw in Ternana. The Beasts have scored no more than once in any of their last eight home league games but have conceded only six goals across those fixtures. Also, four of Bari’s last six matches have finished one goal apiece.

Gaston Pereiro To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Gaston Pereiro has scored twice from a total of 15 shots across his side’s last four matches. Ternana’s number 10 has four goals in his last 10 appearances and was a key figure in the first leg, equalising with deflected effort from just outside the box.

Ternana will take a draw to retain Serie B status

Ternana can retain their Serie B status with a draw in Thursday’s play-out second leg against Bari with the away side in do-or-die mode after being pegged back last week.

I Rossoverdi returned to Umbria with a useful 1-1 draw thanks to Gaston Pereiro’s late deflected strike, but there was nothing fortunate about a display in which they stuck the post twice and missed a penalty before the hosts took the lead.

It was a frantic affair, and the number of chances created, including an early effort against the post for Bari, suggests the rematch will not stay goalless for long.

Both teams have been bagging in Bari road games

Neither Ternana or Bari were particularly potent teams this season, which is perhaps why they finished 16th and 17th respectively. Roberto Breda’s outfit failed to score in a division-high 42% of their home games, but still bagged five more goals than the Cockerels overall.

Bari were involved in five consecutive away games where both teams scored at the back end of the campaign and, given the events at Stadio San Nicola last Thursday, it seems likely that both teams will find the scoresheet again.

The Serie B relegation rules state that Bari will be relegated if the aggregate scores are level after 90 minutes because they finished with fewer points than Ternana, so there is an onus on the visitors to win. Ternana will take a draw and that may be the final outcome with the home side shutting up shop as best they can to obtain another 1-1 scoreline.
