TNS vs Vikingur Reykjavik Predictions
- The New Saints have won five successive home games in Europe
- Víkingur Reykjavík have never won an away match in Europe
- 23 of the last 25 outings at Park Hall Stadium have ended in a T.N.S. victory
Can T.N.S. turn tie around?
A 2-0 defeat in Iceland last week means T.N.S. have a huge uphill task if they are going to reach the next qualifying round, but the Welsh outfit are exceptionally strong at home.
They have already beaten Linfield 1-0 in a Champions League qualifying match at Park Hall Stadium, while five successive European games there have ended in victory.
Indeed, Anthony Limbrick’s side have only lost one of their last 25 home matches, winning 23 and keeping an impressive 13 clean sheets in the process.
Vikingur in the box seat
A Kristall Ingason brace handed Vikingur the initiative in this tie, but they have never won a two-legged European tie from seven previous attempts.
The Icelandic side are on a run of six defeats and two draws from their previous eight away continental matches, including a 3-2 loss in Sweden to Malmo this summer.
Arnar Gunnlaugsson’s side are more finely tuned than T.N.S., given their season is in full flow, and they are strong on the road, winning eight of the last nine, but this should be a tougher test than those faced domestically.
I predict that The New Saints will win this match, but I think it will be quite tight and I don’t think it will be enough to go through, with 1-0 my correct score prediction.
