Tondela vs Santa Clara Predictions
Tondela picked up all three points last weekend when they travelled to Maritim, as the pair produced a five-goal thriller that the visitors edged 3-2. Santa Clara played out a goalless draw at home to Belenenses in their last league game, making in three clean sheets in their last four matches.
However, all of the stats heading into Sunday’s clash point towards both teams scoring, and we’re backing Tondela to win and for the game to feature over 2.5 goals.
These two clubs have only clashed eleven times over the years but eight of those matches have ended with both teams scoring, which includes the last six encounters between the pair. Each of those six matches also saw over 2.5 goals scored and during that period Tondela have been victorious on three occasions, suffering two defeats and picking up one draw.
The form and performances of both clubs in recent weeks suggest that we will be in for a tight and tense game that could go either way and is likely to be settled by the odd goal. Both teams scored and over 2.5 goals were produced in Tondela’s last two matches, while Santa Clara have only failed to score in two of their last six matches. The visitors have only lost one of their last six matches and won’t be easy to break down as they have kept four clean sheets in their last six matches.
However, Tondela won for the first time last weekend and have a decent record against Santa Clara, especially at home, and the visitors don’t score a lot of goals so we believe that if Tondela can score twice then they will claim all three points on Sunday.
We’re confident that both teams will score in Sunday’s match and have predicted a final scoreline of 2-1 in favour of the hosts Tondela. Santa Clara are in good form and won’t down without a fight this weekend but are guilty of lacking firepower up front at times and this is where we believe the game will be won by Tondela. The hosts scored three goals away from home last weekend and have conceded in each of their last two matches and their last three wins against Santa Clara have all been by the same 2-1 scoreline.
