Torino 2-0

Reason for tip

Torino had the fifth best defensive record in Serie A last term, and Lecce are one of just two teams in the league to average below 10 shots per game since the restart. Meanwhile, none of Il Toro’s last four home matches have seen both teams net.

Torino vs Lecce Predictions

  • Torino have only lost one of their five competitive games this season, at Atalanta last time out.
  • Lecce, meanwhile, are yet to win this term, picking up two points from their first four Serie A matches.
  • Only Napoli and Roma have won at Torino since February.
  • Il Toro had Serie A’s fifth best defensive record last season, only conceding 41 goals.

Torino strong favourites for Lecce clash

Having picked up seven points from their first four games of the Serie A season, Ivan Juric’s Torino have the chance to maintain their decent form at home to Lecce on Monday. Il Toro have only been beaten by Napoli and Roma on home soil since February, making them strong favourites to beat a side without a win since winning promotion.

The hosts have only lost one of their five competitive matches this term, at high-flying Atalanta last time out, and have managed to combine their solid defensive record with a more potent attacking threat since the restart. Indeed, Il Toro had Serie A’s fifth best defensive record last season, while only four Italian top-flight teams have created more expected goals (6.3 xG) than Torino this campaign.

Lecce, meanwhile, have posted back-to-back draws against Empoli and Napoli, but remain winless since returning to Serie A. No Italian top-flight team have averaged a lower share of possession than Lecce’s 35 per cent this term, and they are one of just two sides in the competition to average below 10 shots per game this season, making them unlikely to trouble Torino.

Il Toro worth backing for home win

Having lost just three of their last 13 Serie A matches, Torino look well-placed to maintain their good form when they host Lecce on Monday.

While we’re tipping the hosts for a third league win of the campaign, a 2-0 Torino victory could represent a decent correct score prediction – none of their last four home games have seen goals at both ends.
