Torino vs SPAL Predictions

  • Torino have hit form and now welcome back forward Andrea Belotti.
  • The hosts have taken 7 points from their last 3 games.
  • SPAL have lost 7 of their 8 away trips this term.
  • The visitors have lost to nil in 62% of their away games this season.

Torino Firing

Torino forward Andrea Belotti returned to the side in the latter stages of their match with Hellas Verona last weekend, but the striker missed out on all the action. His absence left a gap in this Torino side, but they have responded brilliantly with six goals in three matches without him. Now the challenge is to maintain that with Belotti back again.

This week sees Torino host a SPAL side who are struggling at the foot of the Serie A table. The visitors have major issues on the road and come here hoping to shake their losing run. However, they could be meeting Torino at the worst time.

Hosts Climbing

Torino were hit with a tough run of form earlier in the season, but recent results have lifted the club. Their season started with ambitions of Europe, with the club losing out in the early stages of the Europa League. However, Il Toro are within seven points of the top six now after taking seven points from three games and winning three of their last five.

Torino are hoping to hang on to Belotti and keep this improvement going. Last term’s run into the top seven very nearly took them into the fight for the Champions League spots after a late run. The hosts will be hoping that they’re on a similar run now, while this is a perfect chance to boost their recent form.

SPAL’s Away Woes

With Torino on the up, they should pile onto SPAL’s concerns on the road. The visitors come here with the league’s worst away record, having lost all but one of their games on the road this season. With seven defeats in eight, SPAL are looking poor on their travels, which sets Torino up for another victory in their European bid.

The visitors have lost their last three matches overall, while they’ve been beaten in 11 matches this term. SPAL come here having lost their two trips to this ground in Serie A, while we are going for a hat-trick for the hosts. SPAL have failed to score in six of their eight trips this term and that should see them fall to a Torino team who are in scoring form. We think the hosts are good value for the victory in this one.

Given SPAL’s poor scoring record on the road, we are backing another loss to nil for them here. Torino have picked up their scoring form and after hitting two goals in each of their home wins this season, we’re backing a 2-0 success for Il Toro.
