Toronto FC vs New England Revolution Predictions

Toronto’s home form in comparison to their away couldn’t be any more Jekyll and Hyde. On the road they have won just 3 of their 12 games and at home they’ve lost just 1 of their 10 games, winning 6. They are ramping the pressure on New York City at the top of the table and will go top with a win here. Their home form is very impressive of late having won their last 4 games, scoring 9 goals and conceding just 1.

New England have been poor on the road and have won just once away from home in 10 months. There doesn’t look much hope that this run will change here. They have scored in 7 of their 11 games though and usually go down fighting. Defence is the problem for New England, they have conceded 25 goals in their 11 away games, a rate of 2.27 per game. Coming up against a side who score 1.6 per game at home and a team who possess an in-form Sebastian Giovinco is not likely to fill them with much confidence

New England have the better head to head record of the two, winning 10 times to Toronto’s 4. Toronto have only won 2 of their 10 home head to head meetings.  However, knowing how much the MLS has changed over the past couple of years, I wouldn’t read too much into that.

Toronto have been dealt a blow with news that captain Michael Bradley will be out with a knee injury. Along with Giovinco, he is one of Toronto’s star players and will have an affect on the overall play. New England isn’t a side they can afford to take lightly but, given Toronto’s scoring prowess and New England’s incapability at the back, this should be a straight forward home win. For that reason I am taking Over 1.5 Toronto team goals priced up very generously at 4/5 with bet365. Toronto have kept 5 clean sheets in their last 7 games and I see that run continuing.  A 2-0 Toronto win looks appealing at 17/2.
