Tottenham Hotspur vs Newcastle Predictions
Tottenham Hotspur are looking like really good contenders for a top four spot in the Premier League at the moment.
With Chelsea all but out of the running, they are just waiting for one of the current top four to slip up. They are only three points behind 4th placed Manchester United, and they’re only six off the top spot.
Their last defeat in the league came on the opening day of the season against Man United, and it is only their lack of winning mentality that is lacking overall.
They have drawn eight of their 15 matches so far and won six, although that record has improved recently.
They beat Monaco 4-1 in the Europa League on Thursday, a win which made it six wins in their last nine matches in all competitions.
They should be able to add another on Sunday as well. Newcastle managed a surprising 2-0 victory over Liverpool, but away from home against Spurs I’m expecting them to lose.
They have lost eight of their last 13 games in all competitions, a record which leaves them in the doldrums of the Premier League relegation zone.
Defensively Newcastle have shown that they have the capability to be truly awful this season. They have conceded at least three goals in four of their last eight matches, shipping five or more goals on two occasions.
This leaves them with the joint worst defensive record in the league, and they are facing a Spurs side who have scored 13 goals in their last five home matches.
Past meetings between Spurs and Newcastle have seen goals galore as well. 19 goals have been scored between them in their last six meetings, with three or more goals notched on five occasions.
This makes odds of 5/6 for a Spurs win and Over 2.5 Goals look fair value to me, with a 3-1 correct score prediction coming in at an equally attractive price of 11/1.
