Tottenham Hotspur to Win

Reason for tip

Tottenham have won seven of their eight home games in all competitions and they look well placed to overcome a Sporting outfit who have three defeats in their last four away from home.

Tottenham Hotspur 2-1

Reason for tip

A 2-1 win for Tottenham is the correct score selection as Sporting should be able to find a way through, having only failed to score in one of their four Champions League games. Spurs have been excellent at home but less so at the back and have only managed two clean sheets in eight attempts in North London.

Harry Kane To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Spurs striker Harry Kane has six goals in his last eight games for club and country, and as always will be on spot kick duties, so the England international stands out as a potential scorer.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Sporting Lisbon Predictions

  • Tottenham have won seven of their eight home games this season.
  • Sporting have three defeats in their last four away.
  • Spurs have conceded in six of their eight fixtures in North London.
  • Harry Kane has four goals and an assist in his last five games.

Spurs looking to secure knockout spot

Tottenham’s 100% record at home came to an end over the weekend as they went down 2-1 to Newcastle in North London and they will be looking for a response when Sporting visit on Wednesday.

A win for Spurs would be enough to secure a place in the knockout stages with a game to spare, and they are up against a Sporting outfit who have hit a bit of a rough patch on their travels.

Home comforts still key for Tottenham

Spurs may have lost to Newcastle at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, but they were perhaps a little unlucky not to get anything out of that game. Boss Antonio Conte made a few changes to his line-up and they probably had one eye on this European test as well.

Sporting have lost three of their last four away from home and their own hopes of Champions League progress have been hit by back-to-back defeats to Marseille.

Spurs lost 2-0 in Portugal in the reverse fixture but that was still an even affair as two late goals proved the difference, and with home advantage this time they should be able to claim the win and book a place in the next round.

Visitors may be good for a goal

A 2-1 win for Tottenham is the correct score selection as Sporting have plenty of attacking quality within their squad. The Lisbon side have only failed to score in one of their four Champions League games, while Spurs have only managed two clean sheets in eight attempts at home.

It is hard to look beyond Harry Kane in terms of an anytime scorer option as he has six goals in his last eight games for club and country, and as always will be on spot kick duties.
