      Tranmere to Win

      Reason for tip

Tranmere are strong favourites to beat Gillingham at Prenton Park after a 4-0 victory over Shrewsbury. They’ve won five of their last six home games and shown defensive solidity, conceding in just one of those matches. Tranmere’s recent form suggests they can edge out a lower-placed Gillingham side.

      Tranmere 2-1

      Reason for tip

Eight of Tranmere’s 12 wins last season came by a single goal, and BTTS occurred in their last League Two meeting with Gillingham. Their strong home form and balanced attack make a narrow victory likely.

      Tranmere vs Gillingham Predictions

      Tranmere are impressing at home

Tranmere secured a big victory in their last League Two game and will be confident of getting the better of Gareth Ainsworth’s Gillingham at Prenton Park.

The win/win double result landed in Tranmere’s 4-0 victory over Shrewsbury last weekend, with the hosts priced as 11/10 favourites. That was an excellent result for Tranmere, who triumphed with something to spare.

Gillingham finished 17th last season with 58 points, while Tranmere ended up in 20th place with just 51 points.

Tranmere produced a strong finish to last season, and have now enjoyed success in five of their last six home games in League Two.

They have been solid defensively at home in that period, with no goals conceded in four of their last five League Two games – the exception came in a 3-0 loss against Doncaster, who were promoted to League One.

The hosts may be able to edge out Gillingham in a close game, with a 2-1 home win the correct-score pick. BTTS had come in by half-time when they last met in League Two, and eight of Tranmere’s 12 wins last season were by the odd goal.
