Tromso vs Odd BK Predictions
Tromso enhanced their European credentials last time out by winning 3-2 away at Sarpsborg. Having beaten second place Rosenborg prior to that, the hosts ought to be brimming with confidence. Simo Valakari’s men arrive here in fine attacking form, so they ought to fancy their chances against a struggling Odd side.
Unlike the hosts, Odd have been finding it tough to get their heads in front of late. The visitors will arrive at Alfheim Stadion having failed to win any of their last four in the league. Prior to that, form had been good, though it appears that Dag-Eilev Fagermo’s men are struggling to get out of the hole that they currently find themselves in. To stop a strong Tromso side the visitors will need to improve defensively, while they’ll also need to offer more going forward having failed to score in each of their last two matches.
Barring a couple of poor results, Tromso have looked very good on their own patch this season; they’ve won games, scored plenty of goals and have generally dominated teams. In fact, only one team has accumulated more points at home than Tromso this season, while only two teams have scored more goals than the 17 notched by Simo Valakari’s men in front of their own fans.
Scoring plenty of goals has been part and parcel of the game for the hosts on their own patch this season, though they’re not just a side that is effective at one end only. Tromso have also done well defensively when playing in front of a home crowd. Only two teams have conceded less home goals than Tromso in the Eliteserien this season, while they’ve kept a clean sheet in 43% of their matches at Alfheim Stadion.
Considering that Tromso have been among the best teams defensively (as well as offensively) at home, it’s easy to see Odd, who’ve struggled for goals of late, faltering. The visitors found it tough to build up a head of steam in the final third when failing to score against Brann last time out, while much of the same can be said for their last away match, where Odd failed to score away against a Lillestrom side who’re also good at keeping teams out.
As well as finding goals hard to come by, the visitors have also conceded a fair few goals on the road this season. The likes of Ranheim, Stabaek, Valerenga and Stromsgodset, three of which have scored less home goals than Tromso this season, have all scored multiple goals against Odd.
All in all, with the way things have been going for the two teams, it’s very hard to look past a home win, especially at the prices. Tromso have probably done enough of late to merit even stronger favouritism. Backing the hosts to continue their fine home form is the way to make this one pay.
