Turkey vs Croatia Predictions

  • Each of Croatia’s last six matches have seen both teams score and over 2.5 goals
  • Turkey have lost only one of their previous 11 matches in all competitions
  • Croatia have lost three of their last five games

Both teams can score in a tight encounter

Turkey are up against it according to the bookmakers despite their current three-game run of 2-1 victories heading into this clash. That’s because they welcome World Cup semi-finalists Croatia, although they could only manage a draw against an out-of-sorts Wales outfit in their opener!

The Turks haven’t lost a competitive home international since Hungary ran out 1-0 winners here back in 2020, recording five wins and as many draws in ten such games since then. It’s hard to split these nations when they play each other too, with the record evenly split across the last five H2Hs (W1, D3, L1).

Croatia’s ECQ opener was the fifth game in succession in which they failed to keep a clean sheet, something that they need to work on if they’re to qualify for a sixth consecutive European Championship finals. Luckily for boss Zlatko Dalic, he can point to an eight-game unbeaten run of away internationals for confidence here at the Timsah Arena.

Going for goals

Although Croatia are rightful favourites on the balance of things, there is too much risk in sticking with them for the win given their wobbling form of late. As such, we’re going for a BTTS – yes selection, which if it lands would extend Turkey’s run of games featuring BTTS to six.

For smaller stakes, we’re going for a 1-1 draw here, none of the last five H2H meetings have settled with greater than a single-goal margin and this one could be another tight encounter between these two solid footballing nations.
