Andriy Shevchenko tasted defeat on his first outing as Genoa manager against Jose Mourinho’s Roma, extending Genoa’s winless run to 10 Serie A games. They remain mired in the bottom three, 4 points behind Udinese, who disappointed when tipped at Torino last time out.

Udinese have now won just 1 of their last 10 themselves, and their only home clean sheet of the season came back on matchday 2, in a 3-0 win over Venezia. Having said that, Udinese have only lost two home league games this campaign, against high-flying Napoli and improving Fiorentina, the last of which came back in September.

Back Hosts to Maintain Record Over Genoa

Staggeringly, Genoa have not beaten Udinese in the last 10 meetings between the two, while their last win on this ground came in November 2014.

Genoa certainly have the talent to survive in Serie A, they recovered from a horrific start last season to finish 11^th, after winning 1 of their first 13 games. However, Shevchenko will need time and patience to sort out their issues.

Udinese will still be smarting from Monday’s loss in Turin, where they should arguably have taken advantage of Torino’s injury problems, and will see this as a great opportunity to turn around their own poor run of late. I’m backing the hosts to win this one, and view 2-1 as a solid correct score prediction.
