Udinese to Win and Over 1.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

While Udinese have only lost one of their last five home games, Spezia are winless in six contests, a dire run which provoked a change in the dugout this week. The visitors have shipped 16 goals in their last six outings, and their defence looks unlikely to stand firm at the Dacia Arena.

Udinese 2-1

Reason for tip

Udinese have only kept one clean sheet in their last 10 outings, but Spezia have conceded multiple goals in each of their last six matches. With Spezia shipping 20 goals in 11 away league games this term, backing the hosts to win a contest containing a minimum of two goals can help secure additional value.

Udinese vs Spezia Predictions

  • Spezia are winless in six games, losing five and conceding multiple goals in each of those matches.
  • The visitors have seen their defence breached a total of 16 times in their last six outings.
  • Udinese have seen two or more goals scored in 10 of their 12 home league matches this campaign.

New boss faces daunting task

Leonardo Semplici was appointed as Luca Gotti’s replacement this week, and the former Cagliari boss faces a difficult task as he bids to arrest Spezia’s slide. The Ligurian outfit are winless in six games, losing five times and shipping goals left, right and centre in that time, and their abysmal form means Udinese – themselves out of form – will view Sunday’s head-to-head meeting as an enticing opportunity.

Indeed, Spezia have conceded 16 times in their last six matches, with Atalanta, Roma, Bologna, Napoli, Empoli and Juventus all hitting multiple goals against them. Only Salernitana and Cremonese have shipped more than the 39 goals Spezia have conceded in Serie A this campaign, with 20 of those coming in their 11 away games. No side in the Italian top flight has recorded more away losses than Spezia’s eight this term, a statistic which should leave Udinese fans licking their lips.

Udinese have themselves only beaten Sampdoria – seemingly one of two relegation certainties – since October, with the Zebrette’s 3-1 loss at Inter last time out making it four games without victory since that late January triumph. Udinese’s match-going fans have tended to be entertained this campaign, with two or more goals scored in 10 of their 12 league matches at the Dacia Arena and only six sides bettering their tally of 17 goals in 11 home games this term.

Spezia backline to be breached again

While Udinese’s form has been on the slide for some time, they have lost just one of their last five at home and were unfortunate in a 2-2 draw with Sassuolo a fortnight ago. Given Spezia’s dire results, the hosts will be expecting to reinvigorate their bid for a top-seven finish.

To secure added value against a Spezia side which has made conceding goals a habit of late, we’re adding over 1.5 goals into the mix – backing the hosts to win by anything but a 1-0 scoreline. Meanwhile, with Udinese managing one clean sheet in their last 10 contests, a 2-1 home win could offer correct score value.
