Another loss for the struggling visitors

Union Berlin should be backed to beat Holstein Kiel at home on Sunday. The visitors are yet to win away in the Bundesliga this season – they have drawn three and lost eight on the road – and Union Berlin have won four of their 11 home games.

They are five places and 11 points above rock-bottom Holstein Kiel, who have won just three of their 23 games this season. Backing the home side in games between bottom-half teams in the Bundesliga this season would have shown a profit of 10.97 points to a one-point level stake.

Holstein Kiel’s 2-0 home defeat to Bayer Leverkusen last Saturday was their fourth loss in six Bundesliga games. Holstein Kiel were trailing 2-0 at half time, making it four games in a row that they have been behind at the break, and they didn’t create many scoring opportunities.

Their struggles on the road are a major concern. They have not won any of their last 11 away games in the Bundesliga and, have lost seven of the last eight on their travels.

Union Berlin have been solid at the back in front of their own fans this season, conceding just 11 goals in 11 home games – an average of exactly one goal per game.

A narrow 1-0 win for Union Berlin looks the most likely outcome. Four of their six victories this season have come by a single goal and six of their last eight games have ended with at least one side failing to score.
