Union Berlin vs TSG Hoffenheim Predictions

Goals to flow in battle in Berlin

Union Berlin snapped a five-game winless run with a hard-fought 1-0 win at Freiburg last weekend, but more will be needed to see off a lively Hoffenheim outfit.

Union are seven points and four places better off than visitors Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga table, and strong defensive foundations are to thank for their positive start to the season.

Only Leipzig, Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen have conceded fewer goals than Urs Fischer’s side (25 in 22 games) this term.

However, Hoffenheim’s greatest asset is in attack and Union’s defence is going to be severely tested.

Both teams have scored in 15 of Hoffenheim’s 22 league games and under 2.5 goals has copped in only five of their Bundesliga battles this season.

So Union Berlin’s games may be relatively low-scoring of late but against this Hoffenheim side it is difficult not to get embroiled into a straight shootout.

Having said that, six of Union’s 11 league games in Berlin have ended with at least three goals, while another three of those fixtures ended 1-1.

With that in mind, we are predicting an entertaining encounter in the German capital. It was 3-1 to Union in the reverse fixture but given six of their 11 home games have ended all-square, we’re siding with a 2-2 draw.
